About Poole Lit Fest
Poole Literary Festival is a newly formed not for profit organization whose aim is to establish an annual literary festival that has a major impact on the cultural life of Poole, and becomes a highlight in the UK Literary calendar. The first Festival will take place in Poole using a mix of venues and run from the 29th - 31st October 2010. The 3 day event will have a minimum of 5 events per day and provide a platform for readers and writers to share in a collective experience that leaves them engaged; enthused, excited and wanting more.
Duties
The festival coordinator will help plan, programme and organise the festival. You will be involved with grant and funding proposals, coordination of volunteers, marketing and administration. You will help arrange accommodation, transportation and social gatherings for festival participants.
Hours
Flexible – you may work from home or at my home office, you will be required to attend a meeting approx once a month for a couple of hours, this will increase as the Festival draws near. You should also attend once every 2 months the steering group meetings, which will be held in Poole, early evening for aprrox. 2 hours.
Person Spec
Extremely well organised
Good interpersonal skills both on the phone and in person
Good written skills
Marketing skills would be useful, but rather the ability to spread the word about the festival in a clear and effective way that creates interest.
Some knowledge of setting up and coordinating systems and projects. Knowledge of spreadsheets would be useful.
Knowledge of arts funding/grant applications would be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of website design would be useful
Any experience gained in event management, programming or fundraising would be useful.
Sympathy with the Festival aims and objectives and a commitment to carry out tasks to the highest standard.
