Technical Manager. c£22K-£29K Negotiable plus benefits. Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Manager who will be responsible for technical, health and safety; environmental matters together with staff training for the site, with approximately 20 staff. The role will involved Technical: Ensure that welfare procedures are strictly adhered to; ensure that relevant swabs/samples are taken and sent for processing, with the relevant results being recorded and actioned where necessary; Ensure that chiller temperatures are maintained at the correct level, and that suitable records are maintained; Ensure that staff comply with all relevant food safety legislation and Company Procedures; Maintenance and update of the on site food safety management system; Liaise with relevant authorities, both on site and externally; Liaise with the Operations Manager / Group Technical Manager on matters arising; Provide ad hoc reports and information as required. Health and Safety: Ensure that all incidents/accidents are investigated as appropriate; Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed, to include HSE reporting; Ensure that all staff comply with Company procedures and requirements regarding the wearing of PPE as deemed appropriate for the task; Carry out, review and update where necessary, all risk assessments required to meet the needs of the business; Liaise with relevant authority as required; Liaise with the Operations Manager / Group H & S/Training Manager on matters arising; Provide ad hoc reports and information as required. Environmental: To implement an environmental management system within the plant; To work to the agreed targets set out by local authority SEPA requirements; To carry out training for all staff on environmental awareness; To maintain records and provide statistics as required; Update all policies and procedures in line with SEPA requirements; Audits and procedures; Liaise with group on matters arising; Provide ad hoc reports and information as required. Training: Ensure all new employees receive a suitable induction; Ensure that on-the-job training procedures are in place; Ensure all staff are suitably trained to carry out the task/s they are undertaking; Identify training needs in line with the requirements of the business; Deliver training where necessary, and where competent to do so; Liaise with in group / external training providers where required; Undertake regular job observations to ensure tasks are being undertaken in line with procedure, and record accordingly; Liaise with the Group H & S / Training Manager on matters arising; Provide ad hoc reports and information as required. Personal Attributes: An appropriate science / food qualification or suitable experience with a similar environment; However, both formally recognised training and on-the-job training will be provided in all relevant areas; Excellent attention to detail; Excellent organisational skills; Excellent communicator at all levels; Self-motivated.
