A unique & dynamic combination of Yoga, Martial Arts & Meditation, along with dietary advice, designed to create a lithe, toned body and an alert, stress free mind.
A new and unique system for all ages. Whether just taking up exercise, already doing a little and wanting a more complete or whole body routine to improve your performance, or just wanting to lose some weight.
Incorporating long established, tried and tested methods, our own blend of body motion, movement & control, works and stretches muscles, strengthens central core stability & improves balance to create a fit & healthy, strong & supple, lithe & toned body. All without having to use loads of weights and equipment or finish up looking like a stiff & muscle-bound bodybuilder.
One part of the Martial element in HBT or Holistic Body Training, incorporates the gentle flowing movements of Tai Chi. Ideal for health an mobility and excellent for gradually working the body as a whole.
To help cultivate a supple body, increasing your 'core' strength, and stretching the muscles, Yoga reigns supreme. Not concerned with creating explosive power and movement, it follows the breath on an internal journey through the body to ease & stretch, flex & tone. Bringing a suppleness & flexibility to the muscles – shaping them into a lithe working toned body. The flowing movements of Astanga giving a fluid & graceful range of motion to the healthy body as a whole.
Holistic Body Training also utilises another aspect of a different Martial art; Karate, to work the respiratory and cardiac (heart & lungs) system. This also helps to build 'dynamic' (working) muscle for which there is very little to match it. Please note that in HBT there is no aggression, no flying kicks, no shouting, people kicking up and down a hall, and no physical contact. We are concerned with the actions and dynamics of certain movements, not the aggressive combat side. (this can be trained in one of our other speciality martial arts classes if that is what you are looking for – please see website)
The practice of meditation allows you to gain the most from your training. Helping to clear the mind, allowing it to focus on the issues at hand (the here and now), it is an invaluable aid to both training & everyday life. It brings an unrushed quietness & calm to these hectic stressful times of ever increasing goals, deadlines & multi tasking, enabling you to cope with calm focus in times of stress & crisis. It also allows your body to absorb all the benefits of the workout.
Combining the essential elements together in a balanced, logical & practical way for a holistic whole body & mind approach to healthy living, gives you the chance to embrace life with a grace & vitality not normally achieved through isolated body only orientated programmes. Taking the natural and established methods not normally found in the west and doing away with machines, we create the perfect way to keep fit and healthy in harmony with body mind nature and life.
