Project Accountant
To provide effective strategic financial advice and assistance to the Corporate Director and Service Heads within the Directorate with particular consideration of the opportunities to utilise external initiatives and resources to assist the Directorate with its medium and longer term financial planning. Manage an accountancy team providing a comprehensive accountancy and financial management service to the Directorate and its Committees. You must have relevant experience working in a similar role for a local authority. This is an on-going temporary position, end date can be discussed at interview.
You will have/be
 Experience of working in a Local Authority Finance Department within an annual accounting cycle
 Experience of management and development of junior staff working within a Finance function
 Experience of supervising staff
 Knowledge of Local Government finance
 Good verbal and written communication skills
 Able to work to deadlines
 Able to understand complex accounting systems and interpret computer output
 Able to train and motivate staff
 Good IT skills, in particular good spreadsheet skills
 Able to work as part of a team
 Able to carry out figure work accurately
 Requirement to work outside normal working day to achieve deadlines
