Lecturer in Sport, Leisure & Public Services
My Client, based in Dorset, is currently looking to recruit a part-time, temporary Lecturer in Public Services. The purpose of the job is to teach a range of units, both practical and theoretical, on a range of Sports, Leisure & Public Services programmes, from level 1 to level 3 including Access to HE Sport.
Skills required:
- Up to date knowledge and experience in Operational practices in sports clubs/centres and outdoor adventure centres (land and/or water).
- Current principles and practice in physical education, sport and sports development.
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology and theoretical models underpinning the development of athletes and preparation for service applications.
- Responsive to continual professional development
- Knowledge of and commitment to Safeguarding Children and vulnerable adults legislation
- Ability to organise and lead external activities e.g. competitions, community events, and expeditions.
- Ability to coach students in a range of sport and outdoor activity related activities.
- FE Diploma in Teaching Life Long Learning and Skills (DTLLS) (Cert Ed), PGCE/Cert Ed/FEQT/Other Adult Training Qualification
- Experienced teacher/lecturer/coach educator with experience in industry or armed services.
- Professional qualification in Sports Science, Sports Coaching, Sports Therapy or related area.
- Ability to deliver key or functional skills to sports students integrated with main course content.
- Ability to provide training to a professional standard in sports massage, sports injuries, sports therapy or sports nutrition.
- Familiarity with BTEC and CGLI programmes/procedures
- Assessor & Verifier qualifications
